What is SEO?

SEO means search engine optimisation and is the process of increasing a websites visibility in the major search engines such as Google, Yahoo and Bing. In general, the higher you are in the search results i.e. on page 1, the more traffic your website should receive. For a business, these customers can then be converted into a sale.

How long will it take to get to page 1?

SEO is always a long term strategy. Page 1 results can be achieved using various white hat, SEO techniques. A term that is low in competition can take 3 months before you start to see results.

What is white hat SEO?

White hat SEO means that you adhere to Google best practice when performing SEO. All back links are built manually and ethically. White hat SEO does not use any bots or spam software to build excessive links in a short period of time which could result in a delisting from Google.

What is Link building?

An important part of SEO is link building. What this means is that Google wants to see you build relationships with other websites around the world. Information about your website that is placed on another relevant website is classed as a back link.

I am a local business. How do I get listed locally?

There are a few things you could do.
1. Make sure your address is on your website. Google can then place you in your local town.
2. Set up a Google Business account and list your business on Google maps.
3. Set up Google Webmaster Tools on your website. You can then highlight your business information when a customer searches for you.
